One of the most beautiful islands of the Ionian Sea.
Situated between the islands of Corfu and Kefalonia, Lefkas has the additional advantage of being easily accessible from the Greek mainland through a small draw bridge.
Despite the small size (approx. 30 kilometers long and 12 kilometers wide) Lefkas shows a variety of different landscapes. Being one of the greenest islands of Greece it offers a manifold and luxuriant vegetation, enchanting bays with fascinating and unique crystal blue waters, as well as rough coastal cliffs.
Lefkada, the lovely, small capital (approx. 8000 inhabitants) invites you to stroll through narrow streets and the charming pedestrian zone where you can relax in one of the nice coffee bars or restaurants. Also a variety of shops offer everything, you may desire. A picturesque port and one of the most modern marinas of Greece are known as the ideal starting point to cruise the Ionian Sea.
Lefkas is surrounded by many other little islands, the most well-known are Skorpios (private island of Aristotelis Onassis), Meganisi, and Kalamos. Thus, the island is popular for sailing, surfing and all other kinds of water sports. Nevertheless, Lefkas remained apart of mass tourism and is still considered as an insider tip.
